Episode 23: The Symbol of the Wheel

The Wheel of Fortune is an ancient symbol, spun by the Roman goddess Fortuna, doling out gifts and twists of fate in equal measure. Many of us are most familiar with the Wheel of Fortune from the tarot (or the famed gameshow, though here at Soror Mystica, we’re more “Jeopardy girls”…), as a card that holds the promise of change…

But the Wheel of Fortune brings with it an element of chance. Sometimes we’re at the top of the wheel, other times we’re headed towards the bottom of the tread. Joseph Campbell offers the beautiful wisdom that by finding a way to stay at the center, or the spoke of the wheel, we maintain a sense of centrality in our lives and experiences, and that is just what we explore, this episode.

Tune in anywhere you find your pods to follow this exploration of the wheel as a solar symbol spun by a lunar goddess, the wheel as a symbol of chance and fate, and how we can best locate our centers as the wheel spins on.
